ABOUT US
What is The Point?
What is The Point? We are a Non-Denominational church plant located in Hazlehurst Georgia. In 2019, a group of believers met each week in houses throughout Jeff Davis County as well as Appling County. These believers were committed to do more than just go to church, it became evident that they weren't confined by the four walls of a building. In September 2019, the group of believers came together to found The Point, where they have continued to be a church who isn’t confined by the four walls.
Why Hazlehurst? Hazlehurst is a small, but growing community in Southeast Georgia that is filled with some of the most kind, loving, and generous people. Although there are churches on almost every street corner, we saw that the presence of the church was evident, but the passion of the church had diminished.

Hazlehurst has roughly 4,200 people, with right at 900 people living in poverty, that’s just over 21%! We saw a community who needs a helping hand. The Point has committed to being a church who cares for those around us by putting 100% of all of our missions’ funds and resources into our local community. We have a desire to help the entire world, but we’re starting right here at home!

Hazlehurst is a melting pot of many races and cultures, yet the church is still divided. The Point has made it our mission to welcome anyone, no matter the race or culture. We know that the kingdom of God has never been divided, so neither should the church. We are a church where all are welcome no matter what!
Hazlehurst is a community that has always exemplified faith, but also takes pride in tradition. While tradition can be good, we have sought to be a church lead by the word of God instead of tradition. We seek the truth and we preach the truth, even if it breaks tradition. We love and we respect our community, but we strive for biblical truth.
Our mission at The Point is: Living our lives in a way that points to Jesus. We do that by Reaching, Teaching, and Breaching. What does it mean to Reach, Teach, and Breach?
Reach: We Care for the lost, the broken, the needy, the single mother, the single father, the orphan, the widow, all those who are hurting, and all those who have a need. No matter who they are, no matter their flaws, we strive to reach those around us, by giving them a hope in Christ.
Teach: We teach those around us who do not understand the gospel of Jesus Christ, in hopes that they come to know Christ. We don’t just give people the gospel, we take up time with them, we answer questions, we teach them about Jesus, we live our life as an example of what Christ can do for them!
Breach: We know that no matter if we Reach and Teach, we can’t save anyone. So, we rest knowing that Christ must Breach their heart of stone and replace it with a heart of flesh. We are faithful to follow the great commission, but we know that once we’ve given them the gospel, we don’t have to be burdened because Jesus does the rest!

TENANTS OF FAITH

Authority of Scripture: We believe that the bible is the ultimate and final authority. It is God’s divinely inspired revelation to man and it is true, trustworthy, and without error.

The Gospel: We believe that the true gospel is that Jesus went to the cross, died, and rose again on the third day so that all who believe in him will be saved.
Salvation By Grace Through Faith: We believe that Salvation is a gift from God, therefore it is by grace that we have received the gift of salvation that we are able to have faith in Christ.
Regeneration: We believe that you must be born again in order to be truly saved. A confession without regeneration (re-birth) is simply meaningless words.

Repentance: We believe repentance is necessary for salvation, we must turn away from and reject sin.
Baptism: We believe that baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. It is a public representation of the work of salvation in your life.
Communion: We believe communion is a symbolic sacrament that memorializes the death of Jesus Christ.
Heaven and Hell: We believe that Heaven and Hell are real. We believe that all who have been saved will spend eternity in Heaven and all who die without knowing Christ will spend eternity in Hell, separated from God.
The Trinity: We believe that God is three in one, three beings, but one God. The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.

Sexuality and Marriage: We believe that a Christian should flee from all sexual sin whether it be pre-marital sex, adultery, pornography, homosexuality, or any other sexual act outside the confounds of biblical marriage.
Perseverance of the Saints: We believe that because salvation is a gift from God, that he is faithful to strengthen the saints in order for them to persevere to the end.
